The Art of Piero Rombi (Pierre)




My works are the outcome of a research process on the synthesis of shapes. They are images obtained by drawing very simple, essential modules on paper aggregating them impulsively around an emotion.

Each work is preceded by studies and drawings which, collecting the emotion, model it by a graphic process of synthesis in order to obtain the basic image to be transferred on to the final support.

So the basic image is the result of careful work emotionally modelling the modules on the contents.

I begin a piece of work by transferring the basic image on to the final support. It is the most exciting phase in which shapes and colours challenge the harmony and the confirmation of what I have thought before.

My works neither represent a story nor tell about a landscape or a portrait. The creative impulse springs, as I said, from a personal emotion which becomes a longing for expression and exaltation through the genesis of the work and its realization.
Passion travels on events, stories, myths not in order to tell about their contents but, being over them, to express images and shapes in the same frame so that they can transfer the power of my emotions to the work. Thus the work, sprung from an emotion, develops through the idealization of my passion and fully realizes itself in the lyricism of the image as a final result.
